Harrogate in Summer

As it’s just a ten minute train ride from Knaresborough this was a very lazy shoot for me, but I thought I’d add a few summery shots around the centre of Harrogate – they may well come in handy for my 2020 calendar!

The Royal Hall at Harrogate

One good thing about returning to the same subjects each year is that the flower displays are always changing – the Royal Hall from Crescent Gardens looks quite diferent to the cover image on the current edition of my calendar!

I also noticed wandering around Crescent Gardens how much quieter it seemed now that the former council offices (featured image, top) are standing empty.

The Mercer Art Gallery Harrogate

Nearby, the Mercer Art gallery is a fine old building that I’ve photographed quite a few times, but I always end up standing under it and photographing it from a very oblique angle to avoid the row of cars that are always parked in front of it.  I guess I’ll never be lucky enough to find it without cars – so this time I just included them…

Royal Pump Room Museum Harrogate

Down in Valley Gardens there were more flower displays and the bed near the entrance worked quite well with the Royal Pump Room Museum.

Victoria Gardens in Harrogate

On the way back to the railway station you’d have thought I would have had enough of flower beds, but the vibrant display at Victoria Gardens definitely caught my eye!

I’m sure there’ll be something in that batch for my 2020 calendar – but in the meantime the 2019 edition is now in the shops – at Jespers and Oatlands Mount Post Office in Harrogate and at Castlegate Books in Knaresborough.  Or you can grab a copy from my website and help support Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity.

You can also see more images from the shoot in the North Yorkshire gallery on the website.
