I had a fairly easy shoot last week – an afternoon trip up to Ripon to shoot some Christmassy shots around the cathedral and market place at dusk…
I started at the cathedral and did a few sunset shots first and then waited for the floodlights to come on as dusk arrived.
The view along Kirkgate to the cathedral proved very pretty again this year – with white Christmas lights draped across the street this time (unlike the coloured ones which feature in the December image for the 2018 Ripon Calendar!)
There are some trees in barrels at the far end of Kirkgate this year too!
Over in the market place, as the sky became a deeper blue, the Christmas tree looked great in front of the city hall, with the lights playing on the cobbles.
Looking back into the market square, the famous obelisk also looked impressive as the floodlights came on.
However, impressive as the obelisk is, the Christmas tree made a lovely subject on its own, with the row of shops along the side of the square.
